Hitachi High-Tech joins the Semiconductor Climate Consortium
Hitachi High-Tech Corporation (Hitachi High-Tech) has joined the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) as a Founding Member.
As climate change intensifies, there is an urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the industries. Hitachi High-Tech is aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by fiscal 2050 under the Hitachi Environmental Innovation 2050*1 and the Hitachi High-Tech “Sustainability 2030” declaration*2 in 2022, accelerating specific initiatives to contribute to a sustainable global environment. One of the many goals supporting this initiative is realizing carbon neutrality at our offices and factories by fiscal 2027.
The SCC, established by SEMI which is the global industry association representing the electronics manufacturing and design supply chain, has set an ambitious net-zero target to limit global climate change within 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels and will globally promote efforts to address common challenges to reduce GHG emissions in the semiconductor ecosystem.
Hitachi High-Tech will actively promote the global efforts of the semiconductor ecosystem to address the climate change challenge in collaboration with SCC participating members by contributing to reductions in GHG emissions throughout the value chain. In addition, we will further promote research and development with partners to reduce GHG emissions and improve power efficiency in Hitachi High-Tech developed and produced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, such as etching, inspection and metrology equipment.
We will continue to strive to realize a decarbonized society, a highly recycling-oriented society, and a society in harmony with nature through the provision of a variety of environment-contributing businesses and services.
