The national Youth Science Festival features a large number of demonstration booths run by teachers from across Japan, as well as stage events, outdoor shows, and student-run research presentations.
Tokyo's Youth Science Festival is the largest event of its kind, receiving an enormous number of visitors each year.
Hitachi High-Tech has run an electron microscope booth there since 2014, and this year around 250 children and students were able to discover the world of electron microscopes across the two-day event.
This year, employees from Hitachi High-Tech, who are trained in handling electron microscopes, showed off what household items like spices, insects, paper, and pencil leads look like at the microscopic level. This had been a mystery to the children and students until they saw it through the microscope.

The children and students who experienced this world were amazed at what they saw, saying things like "I had no idea it looked like this!" One of the employees guiding them remarked that "I was nervous when the event got started, but when I saw all the children's smiling faces, I started to have fun too, it really energized me."
