Practical Science Outreach Classes Held in Cooperation with Aichi Bureau of Economy and Industry
3 Junior High School in Aichi, Aichi Prefecture
2023/11-2024/01
Starting in 2018, this is the sixth year of Hitachi High-Tech's outreach science classes held in collaboration with Aichi Prefecture Bureau of Economy and Industry. This year, we held 14 classes for a total of 515 students at 3 Junior High School in Aichi.
The theme of the class was “A Look through the Electron Microscope at the Unknown World of Familiar Objects.” In the first half, we provided an introduction to our company and a lecture on microscopes. In the second half, students had the opportunity to operate an electron microscope themselves.
The lecture part included a quiz format, and the students actively participated by raising their hands. During the hands-on session, the students initially appeared nervous with the unfamiliar equipment, but once they realized that they could observe samples with simple operations, they began to enjoy operating the microscope.
The post-class surveys revealed that many students had questions about the workings of the electron microscope and scientific fields, indicating that they were engaged in the class, which encouraged us to continue our efforts.
Moving forward, Hitachi High-Tech Chubu Branch will continue to collaborate with Aichi Prefecture to support science education activities.
