On November 7th, Hitachi High-Tech Kansai Branch held an outreach science class at Osaka Municipal Higashimikuni Elementary School, with the participation of 41 fifth-grade students.

The class was divided into two parts. In the first session, it began with an introduction to Hitachi High-Tech and an explanation of the micro-world. In the second session, students selected samples of interest and remotely operated a tabletop electron microscope installed at Hitachi High-Tech headquarters to experience observation.
The students who experienced the micro-world through electron microscopy for the first time were highly engaged. They cheered “Wow! Amazing!” when adjusting magnification and focus to clarify images, and their eyes sparkled as they observed insects from various angles.
After the class, we received a lot of feedback from students such as, “I want to see more insects through the microscope,“ and “When you look closely, even everyday things are interesting.“

Hitachi High-Tech Kansai Branch will continue promoting social contribution activities through science education.
