Making a Bird Call – Hitachi High-Tech Group Launches Biodiversity Conservation Activities that Can Be Done at Home

In mid-June, volunteers from Hitachi High-Tech Group companies in Japan made bird calls in the first round of the Hitachi High-Tech Sustainability Management Department’s Biodiversity Conservation Activities that can be done at home.

Bird calls (also known as bird whistles) can produce sounds similar those made by birds, and these outdoor items are popular with people of all ages. The materials for bird call are oak trees collected during the forest maintenance work at the Takao Forest Nature School conducted in late May. Using materials sent from the secretariat such as oak wood, eye bolts, and string, employees and their families made it together.

Through the creation of bird call, an item that allows you to feel the joy of being involved with nature outdoors, we were able to use it as an opportunity to learn "Relationship between nature forests and people" and "the Biodiversity and importance of forests".

Hitachi High-Tech Group will continue to promote Biodiversity Conservation Activities, including some online, and will do its best to ensure that many employees can participate on-site or online.
