Pearl flower

© Mari Sakaue, Masamichi Shiono, Eiko Nakazawa (Hitachi High-Tech Corporation)

This is an anaglyph of the SEM image of mold on a bread. Mold spores like pearls form lines which were prepared by infiltrating 5% IL1000 (ionic liquid) from the bread side. These spores can be clearly seen without destruction. The treatment of the IL1000 are useful for conductivity in a high vacuum environment and shortage of the preparation time. This picture reminds us of one flower blooming in the field powerfully.
